The idea for UpRoot began in December 2014. UpRoot became an official exempt organization in October of 2016. The motto is to Inspire, Rethink, UpRoot. UpRoot’s mission is to help foster a more productive society by replacing misinformation with information based on actual facts.
Why? During my time working in law enforcement, I experienced both the good and bad aspects of law enforcement. It's the bad which needs to be uprooted. UpRoot has a program that tackles those negative issues that destroys the intended relationship between, the public servant and the public. UpRoot works to help find a solution to uprooting and changing those negatives. UpRoot does not intend to discredit law enforcement. UpRoot seeks to simply inform from a law enforcement officer's view point of a citizen. UpRoot also informs from a view point as a citizen. Our goal is to help to mend the public’s view about the police. Informing why certain actions are just and why others are not. To help the public better understand law enforcement. In turn we will educate the police by helping to find better ways of handling the public. A need to break the cycle of misinformation has to start somewhere. A need to help bring an end to the injustice, yet also help to find a solution the public needs.
UpRoot is a 501(c) 3 organization created for informing the public. To inspire through information and facts based on research and experience. As the information is gained it will aid to help society rethink. Uprooting negative social stereotypes, prejudice, and malice moving toward a more prosperous society.
How is this accomplished? First, by addressing the immediate social problems that plague humanity. Creating programs that teach and inform our youth. Giving them positive and realistic views to build a foundation on. Programs designed to help adults gain the knowledge needed to become more productive in society. These programs are designed to show the differences in just lawful behavior and the opposite (unjust police killings). Creating interactive lectures, allows the public a chance to help solve social issues. Curriculums are designed in levels, from child to adult. Targeting more positive means of dealing with differences.
